Numbers look wrong

Find out why your numbers are higher, lower or different than you expect.

Use this page when the numbers in the dashboard do not match what you expect, or what another analytics tool shows.

More visitors than expected

Loomduct counts visitors without cookies, so it recognizes a browser only for one day. The same person is a new visitor:

  • on another day,
  • after their IP address changes, for example when they switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data,
  • in another browser or on another device.

To follow people across days and devices, identify your users when they sign in. See How Loomduct counts visitors.

Fewer visitors than expected

  • Ad blockers. Some ad blockers block analytics requests. Compare with your server logs if you have them.
  • Consent. If you load Loomduct only after consent, visitors who do not accept are not counted.
  • Bots. Other tools may count bots that Loomduct leaves out. See How bots are filtered.
  • Shared networks. People who share an IP address and the same browser version, like in an office, can count as one visitor.

Your own visits show up

Loomduct skips localhost, but not your visits to your live site. See Exclude your own visits.

Page views counted twice

In a single-page app, do not call loomduct.plugins.webAnalytics.page() while automatic page views are on. With Google Tag Manager, do not add a second tag that fires on history changes.

A search or filter page counts only one page view

That is on purpose: only a change of the path is a new page view, not a change of the query string. Track searches with a custom event, like loomduct.track('search').

A query parameter is missing from page addresses

Loomduct removes query parameters before an event leaves the page, except campaign tags. Keep a parameter with the urlParams option, or data-url-params on the script tag. See Remove sensitive data.
