Get exact device and OS versions

Collect exact OS versions and device models in Chromium browsers.

Browsers send only a short version of their details, so Loomduct sees "Windows" or "Android" but not "Windows 11" or "Pixel 8". The clientHints plugin asks Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, Opera, Samsung Internet) for the exact OS version and device model.

Before you start

Loomduct installed on your site. See the Quick start.

Turn it on

Add clientHints() before webAnalytics(), so the first page view already has the hints. With the script tag, add data-client-hints.

In other browsers, the plugin does nothing.

Warning

The plugin is off by default because reading these details from the device can need consent in the EU. If you need consent first, see Start tracking after consent.

Check that it worked

Visit your site with Chrome or Edge. In the dashboard, the Devices card on the Overview shows the exact OS version, like Windows 11.
